Popular Mobilization Forces Launch Wide Security Operation to Clear Anbar Desert of ISIS Cells
The commander of Popular Mobilization Forces operations in Anbar announced today, Friday, the launch of a wide-scale security operation in the western Anbar desert, aimed at clearing the area from dormant cells of the ISIS terrorist organization. The commander said in a press conference held at the command headquarters that the operation involves forces from the 3rd and 17th Brigades in addition to units from the Iraqi Army and Army Aviation. He added that the operation targets rugged desert areas extending from the borders of Anbar Governorate with Syria to the depths of the western desert, where the organization's cells are stationed. The commander stressed that the security forces possess accurate intelligence information about the movements of terrorists and their hiding places, affirming that the operation will be decisive and comprehensive. He revealed the establishment of mobile checkpoints on main roads to prevent the infiltration of terrorist elements into populated areas. The launch of this operation comes within the framework of the security forces' strategy to secure the western borders and prevent terrorist organizations from exploiting security gaps. The people of the governorate expressed their solidarity with the security forces and their provision of logistical and informational support for the operation. The commander concluded his statements by affirming that Iraq will not be a safe haven for terrorists.
