Iraq Participates in Emergency Meeting of Arab Foreign Ministers on Iranian Attacks
Iraqi Ambassador to Cairo and Permanent Representative to the Arab League Dr. Qahtan Taha Khalaf headed Iraq's delegation on Tuesday (April 21, 2026) at the extraordinary emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers, held via video conference. The meeting, chaired by Bahrain, discussed the serious repercussions of Iranian attacks against Arab states and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to international navigation. In his address, Khalaf affirmed the Iraqi government's keenness to establish strong relations with Arab brethren, noting that the Iraqi constitution prohibits using Iraqi territory as a launchpad for attacks against any other country. The Iraqi official held "the Israeli entity" primarily responsible for the state of chaos in the region, confirming that Iraq itself has not been spared from attacks by various conflict parties that targeted both civilian and military installations.
