5G Services Enter Iraq from Baghdad and Basra
The Communications Commission announced the launch of 5G services in Iraq through three major telecom companies, in the capital Baghdad and Basra province. The service will provide high download speeds up to ten times 4G speeds, meaning a significant improvement in communication and browsing experience. Transmission towers have been equipped with the latest equipment compatible with global standards, with plans to expand to include the remaining provinces. The Commission affirmed that prices will be suitable for citizens, with special packages for students and government employees. Iraqis hope this step will contribute to developing the digital sector and providing new job opportunities for youth. The operating companies affirmed that they are in the process of covering vital and commercial areas first, with residential areas to be included successively. This launch is considered a qualitative leap in the Iraqi telecommunications sector. Specialists in the communications field affirmed that 5G will open wide horizons for artificial intelligence applications and the Internet of Things in the country. Tech entrepreneurs welcomed the announcement, stating that improved connectivity will significantly boost startup ecosystems and digital innovation across the country.
