Prime Minister Issues a Package of Financial and Administrative Directives to Boost National Economy and Revenues

Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi chaired a strategic meeting with the senior staff of the Ministry of Finance on Saturday, May 23, 2026. During the session, he issued a package of urgent directives aimed at formulating a comprehensive financial vision corresponding to current economic challenges. His Excellency emphasized the necessity of adopting a modern financial policy aligned with "Iraq Vision 2035," focusing on reducing dependency on oil revenues and maximizing non-oil income by leveraging the country's strategic geographical location. The Prime Minister also strictly mandated the timely disbursement of employees' salaries, social welfare dues, and payments to farmers and contractors to ensure sustainable development. Furthermore, he directed the restructuring of the state's economic role to act as a supporter and regulator of the private sector, in addition to implementing a comprehensive automation system in border crossings and customs to curb corruption. The directives also included resolving the legal status of contracted doctors and prohibiting the display of officials' portraits in government offices, underscoring the priority of delivering public services and achievements to citizens.
