Pakistani Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir arrived in the Iranian capital, Tehran, on an official visit aimed at discussing ways to reduce the escalating tension between Iran and the United States and contributing to peace efforts in the region. This visit comes within the framework of Pakistani diplomatic endeavors to play the role of mediator and bridge the viewpoints between the conflicting parties.

Official Pakistani and Iranian sources confirmed that Field Marshal Munir's visit, in his capacity as Army Chief and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, carries strategic significance and reflects Islamabad's desire to activate channels of dialogue and open new horizons for a settlement. Reports indicate that the talks will focus on discussing thorny files, including regional de-escalation, the release of frozen Iranian assets, securing maritime navigation, and providing mutual guarantees to prevent escalation.

On the other hand, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that there has been slight progress in the diplomatic track, but he stressed that the issue of uranium enrichment remains the main obstacle to any comprehensive agreement. Rubio affirmed the US administration's position rejecting Iran's possession of a nuclear weapon, warning that Washington keeps all options on the table in case diplomatic efforts fail.
