Ministry of Electricity Establishes Central Emergency Room to Secure Power Supply During Summer
The Minister of Electricity, Ali Saadi Wuhaib, issued urgent directives on Saturday, May 23, 2026, to form a central emergency room in preparation for the challenges of this year's summer and the requirements of the Arbaeen pilgrimage. This move aims to implement an immediate and comprehensive action plan that includes monitoring grid loads, resolving bottlenecks, and enhancing the readiness of production plants, transmission, and distribution lines to ensure the stability and continuity of power supply during peak hours. Presiding over the emergency committee meeting, the Minister emphasized the necessity of field presence for senior staff to address technical and service issues instantly, rather than relying on desk-based monitoring. Furthermore, committee members have been granted full administrative and technical authorities to ensure a smooth workflow and to overcome any obstacles hindering the stability of the electrical grid.
