Legal Expert Affirms: Protecting Citizens' Rights Depends on Strict Application of Laws and Holding Defaulters Accountable
Human rights activist Ali Habib confirmed that the constitutional umbrella in Iraq provides solid legal protection for the citizen's dignity and prevents violations and arbitrary detention, but the problem lies in the weakness of implementation mechanisms on the ground. Habib explained that the effectiveness of these laws is linked to the existence of an independent, quick-deciding judicial system, free from any collateral pressures. He called for activating the role of the Human Rights Commission and increasingly resorting to technology, such as surveillance cameras in detention centers, to enhance transparency and ensure that no transgressor escapes the arm of the law.
